I created a content search in the Security and Compliance center that successfully ran and found the emails I wanted to remove. I connected to the Security and Compliance center through powershell and ran: "New-ComplianceSearchAction -SearchName"Email Search" -Purge -PurgeType Softdelete"
The compliance search action completed, but the emails are still sitting in the Inbox. I'm assigned the global admin role as well as compliance search and mailbox import/export.
