Does sidHistory work even after Trust is gone

I am migrating users and computers from one forest to another forest, we are going to use SIDHitory for shared folders and roaming profiles. I have doubt if SIDHistory will still work even after the source Domain is gone. However I could not find any official MS document where it clearly mentions that SID History works even after the Domain is gone.
